Like language itself,
paralanguage differs according to culture. The
hidden aspects of communication often confuse travelers. That's why travel agents often encourage a little language research on the culture before you go. I would also encourage research on nonverbal elements such as dress, facial expression, and

This is great advice. It's important for leisure and business travel, and critical for mission work as well. You don't want to set roadblocks to communication before a word is even spoken. Knowledge (and practice) are key.
